Chef and owner, Gino Gargano, was born in Bagheria, Sicily on a lemon farm where he grew up with a love of good food, family and friends. As a child, he and his brothers learned about the importance of the table at his mother's knee. As a young man his love of cooking led him to an apprenticeship at one of Sicily's famed 'pasticceria' where he learned the secrets of Sicilian cuisine. In the early 60's he emigrated to America with 2 of his brothers.
Gino's opened for business on State Street on July 5, 1963. Family owned and operated, Gino has been serving it's famous lasagna and stuffed pizza to generations of Madisonians and UW Madison students ever since.
